Barefoot Gym

I’ve noticed a growing trend around the gym. At first it was mostly the serious cardio people but today I saw at least 4 different bigger lifters wearing em. While squatting or deadlifting today.

It’s those lightweight shoes with toes.

Yep those.

Must admit my curiosity is really kinda peaked on them. One because with so many people in the gym rocking em they must be fairly good shoes. and two, I’m generally a guy tho likes to be be barefoot. So if they are light enough that would be pretty cool.

X-Men

So I watched first class last night while trying to fall back asleep and aside from a few continuity errors between it and other movies, I really enjoyed it. But I did notice a couple things that made me smile.

  1. Betty Draper as Emma Frost
  2. Kevin Bacon
  3. Did anyone else find the interaction between Charles and Erik like really gay. And I mean gay as homosexual.

Waking Up

Ugh waking up in the middle of the night because of something stuck in your teeth. If I dont fall back asleep I am gonna be one pissed off…I dont know what. But I’ll be angry.

Roman Trunks

Holy Roman Empire.

I did Decline Roman Trunk Rotations yesterday. (not sute if my name for em is correct or not) Brought em into my workout for the first time. Wrecked me so badly I could barely do half of my ab work today.

So I guess that means they work huh?

Gin

After basically three years of rather piss poor drinking standards. I have spent most of the summer and fall so far elevating my drinking and tastes beyond the level of take a cheap bottle of Pop Off Vodka (smells like lighter fluid and tastes a little bit like what windshield wash smells like) and mixing it with a ton of Coca-Cola.  It was something that for the longest time turned me off to vodka.

Since starting I have managed to come to add vodka as well as a variety of rums to my drinking know-how and tolerance. Making for much more fun and tasty drinking experiances on the occasions I’m going out or drinking with the roommates. The Which leaves me sitting with my only remaining booze to struggle with.

Absinthe! (Sshh…That’s coming later)

GIN!

My experience with Gin has been limited to Gin Buckets, which have resulted in a lot of vomiting and very little enjoyment on my part. So I want to reaclimate myself with this clear liquor hell but have no idea where to start.

So what is a good but not too expensive gin & what are good cocktails with it aside from the simple Gin & Tonic?

Sleeping Issues

So small problem has arisen with the new nipple piercings. (Seen Here) I normally sleep on my stomach with my head propped up on my arms. I currently cant do that unless I want serious owies.

Which I don’t want.

No sir.

Hopefully some booze will make sleeping on my back easier.

Gym Douche Safari

So I don’t consider myself an expert on the gym and lift. Not by any stretch of my imagination. But what I saw today is the latest in a storm of shitty lifting at the gym. I think one could make a bingo board of the crappy lifters.

I think my big three complaints are:

  1. Groups of guys dominating a piece of equipment but not moving (spending 3 hours in the gym doesn’t count if you only lift for 30 minutes)
  2. The Roided out Guys that do shit reps, lack of full range of motion and grunting out loud.
  3. The Flexers. Don’t stop in the middle of your workout to flex in the gym mirror and lift your shirt to flex your abs. Your not pretty and nobody wants to see that.

Like I said. Either a bingo board or like some kinda gym safari should be made. So I can be like a big game hunter. Like Nigel Thornberry of the gym.

Clothing

Today I gathered up some new clothing from the mall. It wasn’t a huge extravaganza of shopping because I’m just not a fan of shopping for the sake of shopping. But I managed to get everything I wanted/needed. Which ended up totaling up to be:

  • Two pairs of 501 Levis (One Light Blue and One Black Pair)
    • These are honestly the first pair of jeans that I have found that fit me perfectly from the waist to the rump to the legs. Just tight enough to cling, not so tight I walk like Frankenstein.
  • Replacement Polo Shirts from AE (Brown, Gray, Blue, Red)
    • Have to Leave both buttons open on the collar. Added into the White, Pink and Orange that I already have.
  • Three AE Cargo Shorts (Two khaki color and a Camo)
  • Two pairs of Athletic Trunks
    • Nuff Said
  • Diesel’s cologne “Fuel for Life”
    • Used to wear only the brave but when I tried this one on in the store it just smelled much better on me. Kinda reminds me of the the beach and the tropics.

Chocolate Milk?

I don’t know if I believe this because I really like chocolate milk or because it seem factual but a few months ago I found an publication from an Australian research company talking about the benefits of chocolate milk after a work out over any other drink (including water) I can’t remember the all the facts listed but two stood out in my head

  • The Chocolate Milk replenishes carbs, sugars and proteins lost during a workout.
  • The Chocolate Milk helps cut down on recovery time for the muscles.

I can definitely say that it helps with the post workout shakes. But can’t really speak to the credit of anything else. The internet has now exploded with the information if you wanna look. (Check the source at the bottom)

I generally don’t follow it exactly because I don’t like fat free milk. I drink 2%, so who knows if that makes a difference.

Now I'm Learning With Portals

So in maybe an hour I am going to lose what remains of social life to the Aperture Science Enrichment center. Because Valve has released a special on there gaming program Steam. If you get it before the 20th of September you can get Portals for free. As a broke college gamer, needless to say I’m doing my happy snoopy dance.

They are doing this in combination with the idea that video games can become teaching tools are much as they can be used for entertainment. As seen here http://www.learnwithportals.com/
